Covid-19 Day of Refection

PRESS RELEASE
COVID-19 Day of Reflection
2025 marks five years since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. On Sunday 9th March, people across the UK will join together for a Day of Reflection.
It is a time to remember those who lost their lives, the sacrifices made by many and the impact the pandemic had on us all.
Stone Town Council has created an area within Crown Meadow for reflection, with a seat and cherry blossom trees, where anyone can sit quietly and reflect on what COVID meant to them. All are welcome to carefully hang a label on one of the trees with a few words or lay a flower in remembrance. The Council will collect all messages left on the trees and add them to its heritage collection to form a lasting tribute.
The COVID commemoration area is located alongside Trent Close, near to the peace pole and car park.
Councillor Jill Hood, Chairman of the Council’s Tourism and Town Promotion Sub-
Committee said “The COVD-19 pandemic had an impact on us all. The Day of Reflection is an opportunity to remember both those that we lost during the pandemic, and those that worked tirelessly and showed acts of kindness during this unprecedented time.”
