Councillor Jim Davies
Biography
Jim was born and brought up in London and served in the Royal Air Force for 27 years retiring in the rank of Squadron Leader. He and Lin, his wife, came to Stone in 1992 from a posting in Cyprus. Lin was first elected to Stone Town Council in 2000 and was Town Mayor 2002-3. Jim was first elected to the Town Council in 2015 and served 2 consecutive terms as Town Mayor 2016-18. Of their 2 sons one served as an officer in the RAF Regiment and the other is still serving in the Army. Their grandson is a serving Royal Marine.
Jim was an early champion of the Crown Wharf project, is a past Chairman of the Stone Choral Society, has been the President of the Royal Air Forces Association, Stone & District Branch since 1992, is honorary President of No 2352 (Stone) Sqn Air Cadets, and is the current Chairman of the Stone Scout and Guide Band.
He is an active member of the Stone Choral Society, the Cantiamo Chamber Choir and the congregation of St Saviour’s, Aston by Stone. Lin is a lay minister (Reader) in the joint benefice of Stone St Michael & St Wulfad with Aston St Saviour, she is also the Honorary Welfare Officer for Stone RAFA.
Jim and Lin now live in Hilderstone and Jim is the current Chairman of the Stone Area Parish Liaison Group.

Deputy Mayor
The Deputy Mayor of Stone for the year 2023-24 is Councillor Robert Townsend.
Mayor’s Chaplain
The Mayor’s Chaplain is chosen by the Town Mayor and is appointed at the Annual Council meeting in May each year. The role includes leading prayers before Council meetings and participating in civic ceremonies.
The Mayor’s Chaplain is Reverend Jim Cartlidge of St Michael and & St Wulfad’s Church.
